Shelley Rorvick, MA, LMFT
(they/them)
Psychotherapist & Sex Therapist

Graduate of The Developmental Model of Couples Therapy Training under Ellyn Bader Ph.D. at The Couples Institute

Couples Institute Developmental Model

Shelley is a queer, nonbinary bilingual Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MN & WI) who focuses on sexual health and wellness with people from all walks of life. With over 10 years of experience in the sexual realm, as well as more than 20 years of experience in mental health overall, Shelley has successfully assisted people in navigating relationships and in regaining a positive sense of self through feeling supported and affirmed. They are trained in and utilize EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) with many clients to assist in addressing underlying negative beliefs that stand in the way of a client's progress.

Although they work with people from many backgrounds,Shelley specializes in working with people in the LGBTQIA+ community as well as people in alternative sexual lifestyles, including the BDSM and kink communities, and those who fall under the non-monogamy umbrella. Additionally, they work with people who have committed sexual offenses as they work to lead law-abiding, fulfilling lives. This may include psychosexual evaluations and/or treatment.

Brynne Pass
(they/she)
Marriage and Family Therapy Intern

Brynne is a nonbinary Marriage and Family Therapy intern under the supervision of Shelley Rorvick, LMFT, committed to increasing equitable access to therapy and supporting clients in building meaningful, fulfilling relationships. Their work is grounded in an understanding of the systemic nature of relationships, recognizing that individuals are shaped by patterns of communication and connection learned from family, friends, culture, and broader social systems. They specialize in working with individuals, couples, and relationship systems within the LGBTQIA+, kink, and consensually nonmonogamous communities.

Brynne takes a whole-person approach to well-being, helping clients identify and challenge internalized beliefs and patterns that often perpetuate oppressive or capitalist values. Having experienced the benefits of therapy in their own life and relationships, they are passionate about collaborating with clients as they work toward greater self-awareness, authenticity, and connection. They believe that one of the most challenging—and rewarding—aspects of therapy is examining and reshaping deeply held assumptions to create the relationships and lives clients truly desire. Brynne is also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an evidence-based approach that can be especially helpful for addressing traumatic experiences and the resulting patterns.
